I've been asked on many occasions how I can help someone on their path to success. I often question the question with yet, you guessed it, another question. "What do you see yourself doing five years from now?" I often find people who don't have the answer to this question. They have vague answers and thoughts about where and what, but very few have a clear, concise response that allows me to believe that they have a defined plan in place.

The conversation usually leads to a place of discovery which ultimately determines how I respond to my potential clients. The discussion leads to me talking about the value of having a professionally trained coach as their trusted partner and a person who holds them accountable for their own success.

What's crucial though is how set they are in their path and how ready they are to take action. I often remind my prospective clients, if you're just talking about "it" and wishing it's going to happen, the odds are slim for success. If you have it all planned in your mind and yet you don't have a specific agenda that is measurable and mapped out with a time table, what do you think your chance of taking action will be?
